isolation/feedback for various quartets (2008-)
isolation/feedback is a series of works for quartets of similar instruments in which the ensemble is conceived of as a network in which information and ideas are passed between performers in dynamic patterns that shift at several points during the performance. Contrasting these integrating networks of communication, the ensemble members simultaneously establish their individuality by interpreting dissimilar graphic images and exploring different parts of their instrument and body.
Currently versions of this piece are available for string, trombone, saxophone, clarinet, snare drum, and bassoon quartets.
